The Dream XR_2026_VR Installation / Immersive Environment
Real-time environment produced in Unreal Engine 5
VR installation for Meta Quest 3 / PCVR

The Dream XR is an immersive virtual-reality installation developed as a spatial extension of the moving-image work The Dream. As part of the broader transmedia project, it translates the film’s post-human mythology, digital avatars, and hybrid landscapes into a navigable environment in which the viewer becomes physically and perceptually involved in the work.

The experience is conceived as a guided journey through the interior of a large mythological creature. Moving through anatomical and symbolic zones that evoke the ovary, fallopian tube, uterus, and emergence onto the surface of the beast, the viewer encounters a world in which biological imagination and digital construction continuously overlap. These spaces are not literal representations of the body, but speculative environments where reproduction, transformation, and technological becoming are reimagined through virtual space.

Developed in Unreal Engine 5, the work combines real-time rendering, sculptural 3D environments, animated digital characters, particle systems, atmospheric effects, and spatial sound. VR is approached not only as a display technology, but as a medium for spatial storytelling, shifting the project from cinematic observation toward embodied experience.

At the conceptual core of The Dream XR is the transformation of the body within a technological environment. The viewer enters a space that is simultaneously organic and synthetic, intimate and alien, biological and mythological. In this sense, the work continues the project’s interest in avatars, hybrid entities, and post-human consciousness, while expanding it into an immersive encounter.

Drawing on references to medieval bestiaries, embryological forms, ritual movement, and speculative ecology, The Dream XR creates a digital environment that oscillates between the sensual and the uncanny. The virtual space becomes a site of transition, where body, landscape, technology, and myth are continuously reconfigured.

By extending The Dream into VR, the project proposes the artwork as an ecosystem rather than a fixed image. The Dream XR invites the viewer to enter a world in formation — a fragile, hybrid environment where organic memory, technological evolution, and mythological imagination converge.
